Course Information

COMFORT Communication for Spiritual Care is a new curriculum focusing on communication about spirituality, held as a two-day course format that includes learning about: (a) assessment of common clinical concerns that involve spiritual topics; (b) evidence-based research on patient/family spiritual needs in treatment decision-making and end of life; (c) examples of spiritual history and life review from discipline-specific roles; (d) communicating forgiveness; (e) interprofessional spiritual care; and (f) bereavement.  Providers from ambulatory care, the emergency department, and acute care settings are encouraged to attend, with emphasis on spiritual communication with the patient as well as with the family.
