With a specific focus on health communication and palliative care, our work is meant for healthcare providers, patients, families, community health providers, health literacy professionals, and health communication scholars—all of whom shape and impact the communication and practice of patient and family-centered care.

The Comfort Model
COMFORT is an acronym for the basic principles of palliative care communication. The model has been translated into a teachable curriculum, taught to more than 10,000 healthcare providers across the nation.

The typology highlights communication patterns in the family management of health crisis by presenting four unique caregiver communication styles. The typology provides a foundation for learning about tailored communication approaches in healthcare.
